Application of Quartz Glass
Quartz glass [Silicon dioxide (SiO2)] raw material is the main raw material for the manufacture of high-performance materials such as silicon dioxide film, quartz ingot, quartz glass, solar cells and optical communication cables. It is also the main plastic packaging material for the semiconductor industry. It can also be used to prepare monocrystalline silicon and polycrystalline silicon. With high added value, it is an important foundation of today's high-tech products and a necessary condition for the sustainable development of a country's high-tech.
1. Raw materials of quartz glass
Quartz glass is a single-component amorphous
material of silicon dioxide, and its preparation requires high-purity silica
sand as a raw material. The high-purity quartz sand prepared by purifying the
quartz sand so that the amount of silica reaches 99.9% or more is the raw
material for the preparation of quartz glass.
Synthetic quartz glass material is hydrolyzed and deposited by the liquid compound of silicon-containing high-purity quartz sand in a hydrogen-oxygen flame. At present, there are two main production methods of synthetic quartz glass: one is horizontal vapor deposition method; the other is vertical vapor deposition method. The vertical vapor deposition method for producing synthetic quartz glass has the characteristics of high process stability, good appearance quality of the finished product, and high UV transmittance. Therefore, it has become the mainstream process route for the production of synthetic quartz glass in the world.
2. High-end application fields of quartz glass
1) Optical communication field
With the urgent growth of information flow and high-capacity and high-efficiency direct circuit demand, it has promoted the rapid development of the optical fiber industry and also promoted the growth of its upstream main raw material quartz preform and quartz tube industry. The demand for the optical fiber market will continue to heat up, while driving the rapid development of the quartz glass industry.
2) Semiconductor field
Due to its special physical properties of temperature resistance, acid resistance, low expansion and excellent tube permeability, high-purity quartz material meets the demanding requirements of the semiconductor industry on the content of alkali metals and heavy metals in carrier materials, and has become a must in this field. Diffusion tubes, bell jars, etc. manufactured by it run through key processes such as diffusion, oxidation, deposition, and etching in the semiconductor manufacturing process. With the advancement of technology, quartz materials have been widely used in the semiconductor production process, such as the main substrate for photomask substrates in flat panel display technology, and the key material for high-end high-power lighting tools.
3) Photovoltaic field
Solar energy is the only energy source that can guarantee the future needs of mankind. Therefore, in order to more effectively extract and use solar energy, all countries are constantly developing solar photovoltaic module technology, and use this "inexhaustible" energy as much as possible. Crucibles made of quartz glass are widely used in the production process of solar crystal refining and silicon wafers and silicon rods due to their clean, homogeneous and high temperature resistance performance. They are important consumables and process consumables for the industry.
4) Aerospace and other
Due to a series of severe conditions such as high strength, low dielectric constant and electrical loss, high temperature resistance, low expansion coefficient and corrosion resistance, required by the key parts of aviation and aerospace vehicles, quartz fiber is made into quartz wool, quartz cloth and other materials due to its excellent performance, which are used to make aircraft nose radomes, rocket tail nozzles, and ablation materials for space vehicles. Quartz glass has high purity, suitable light transmittance and refractive index, good optical performance, excellent light transmittance and heat resistance from ultraviolet region to infrared region, and is widely used in optical coating and making electric light source foam .
In recent years, the rapid development of optical communication industry, semiconductor industry, solar photovoltaic industry and aerospace industry has provided a broader development market for the development of the quartz glass industry, and has also driven the level of quartz glass products to a higher level.
